Overview

1 / Problem

Starting a new craft can be overwhelming without access to guidance. Many people struggle to know which supplies to buy, how to begin, and how to avoid common mistakes, making it difficult to confidently dive into a new creative hobby.

2 / Design Process

This project began with user interviews and secondary research to better understand the challenges crafters face when starting something new. We analyzed competitors to identify gaps in available resources and opportunities for connection. Insights were organized through an affinity diagram, which helped us recognize recurring pain points and prioritize solutions. Using a feature prioritization matrix, we defined the core functionalities that would provide the most value. With user personas guiding the design, we created wireframes and iterated from low- to high-fidelity, refining the flow with feedback at each stage.

3 / Solution & Results

DIT makes it seamless for crafters to share their knowledge and learn new skills through direct connection. Users create a profile that lists both the skills they have and the ones they want to learn. The app then matches them with others who have complimentary skills - someone who can teach what they want to learn while also gaining knowledge in return.

This peer-to-peer exchange removes the barriers of starting a new craft alone and replaces it with a collaborative, community-driven experience. By focusing on skill-sharing and connection, DIT transforms crafting into an accessible, social, and mutually beneficial process.
